Chlorine Equivalency Test
Test Objective:
To determine the equivalent concentration of SyDERMA® necessary
to be as effective as available chlorine to kill bacteria.
Test Method:
The standard test procedure described in the Official Methods of Analysis
of the Association of Official Analytical Chemistry International, 16th
Ed., Vol. 1, Locator 6.3.01, AOAC Official Method 955.16 Chlorine (Available)
in Equivalent Concentration was used to determine the chlorine equivalency
of SyDERMA®. This test procedure test both chlorine (NaOCl)
and SyDERMA® against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC No. 6538).
Interpretation of Assay:
The results of the chlorine equivalency test are expressed as the equivalent
parts per million (PPM) needed of the test product to prohibit bacterial
growth compared to that of available chlorine in various concentrations.
Test Results:
SyDERMA®,when tested in accordance with standard testing procedures,
was found to be equivalent to available Chlorine (NaOCl) at the following
concentrations:
- 50 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 200 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
- 35 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 100 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
- 25 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 50 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
