SyDERMA®
is meant for external use only and should be applied in a "rub on"
fashion to the skin surface where additional protection is desired. It
is important that the skin surface be washed and thoroughly dried prior
to applying SyDERMA®. SyDERMA® should be applied
directly to the skin surface from the bottle or dispenser, usually into
the palm of one hand. It should then be rubbed onto the other hand or
other skin surface. An amount of SyDERMA® approximately the
size of a nickel coin will cover an area the size of an average sized
pair of hands. Larger sized areas of skin surface would of course require
larger amounts of SyDERMA®.
It is very important to apply SyDERMA® thoroughly over the
entire surface of the skin area to be protected, paying special attention
to folds and crevices in the skin surface, and between fingers, and especially
areas such as the cuticles and under fingernails. Allow approximately
one to three minutes for SyDERMA® to dry. SyDERMA®
must be completely dry in order for its ingredients to have maximum effectiveness.
Incomplete drying may reduce effectiveness. Do not wash or scrub the skin
until SyDERMA® is completely dry. Once complete drying has
occurred, each application of SyDERMA® will provide protection
for intact skin for a period of 4 to 6 hours. Gloves may be applied as
soon as SyDERMA® is dry to the touch. SyDERMA® does
not interfere with the sense of touch and will not compromise dexterity.
It is not recommended that SyDERMA® be applied to the entire
body, or on an area of infection, deep wounds or puncture wounds, or animal
bites. It is intended only for areas of the body that are exposed to harmful
contaminants (i.e. hands, arms, hands and arms; torso for incontinence,
legs, feet).
Note: Avoid exposure at all times of any unprotected skin area
to potential irritants! Apply up to 3 times daily, as needed.
