SyDERMA® has been tested under laboratory
conditions and proven to protect the human hand against repeated assault
by concentrated Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) for a period of up to six hours.
It is effective as a barrier to water, blood, urine, alcohol, detergent,
hydrogen peroxide, and hydrochloride acid.
A nationally recognized testing laboratory demonstrated that SyDERMA®
has superior inhibitory activity over an extended period of time on strands
of common bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium,
and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. These tests proved that SyDERMA®
effectively destroys 99.99% of these bacteria within 30 seconds of contact
and is a bactericidal agent.
We have provided the efficacy test summary statements below.
Skin Protection Properties;
- Acid Abuse
SyDERMA®, when applied to the skin according to directions
and allowed to dry thoroughly, served as a skin protectant against
40% Hydrochloric Acid over a period of 6 hours.
- Barrier effectiveness
SyDERMA®, served as an effective barrier to the penetration
of 6 Test Solutions through treated membranes.
- Aluminum Foil
SyDERMA®, served as a barrier to the penetration of Hydrochloric
Acid onto aluminum foil.
Bactericidal Properties;
- Zone of Inhibition
SyDERMA®, when tested in accordance with the Official Methods
of Analysis of the Association of Official Analytical Chemistry, Chapter
6, was found to be effective against the organisms tested under the
Zone of Inhibition Test.
- Time Kill Test
SyDERMA®, reduced 99.99% of bacteria tested at 30 seconds
contact time.
- Four Hour Endpoint
Assay
SyDERMA®, showed superior inhibitory activity
Chemical Equivalency;
- Phenol Coefficient Test
SyDERMA®, when tested in accordance with standard testing
procedures was found to have a phenol coefficient of 5.26.
- Chlorine Equivalency
SyDERMA®, when tested in accordance with standard testing
procedures, was found to be equivalent to available Chlorine (NaOCl)
at the following concentrations:
- 50 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 200 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
- 35 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 100 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
- 25 PPM concentration of SyDERMA is equivalent to 50 PPM concentration
of Chlorine.
